Fragile Ceasefire Tested as Israel Bombs Bekaa Region

Israel is targeting the Bekaa Valley area now by escalating its air campaign. This marks the first time that this particular territory in Lebanon will be attacked since the United States negotiated a truce between the two parties, beginning from April 16. Even after President Donald Trump extended the truce by three weeks, there still appears to be tension with the continued destruction of Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah’s attacks through its drones and rockets. It is important to note that there are currently political conflicts in Lebanon because President Aoun supported direct talks with Israel as a means for Lebanon to survive, whereas Naim Qassem from Hezbollah labeled the move as “a humiliating concession.
